Just a short elevator ride from Galaxy Macau’s expansive main gaming floor, Macallan Whisky Bar & Lounge is unparalleled when it comes to sampling the world’s finest drops in suitably plush surrounds.
Boasting more than 400 different whiskeys from all across the globe, this is in fact the one and only Macallan Bar of its kind anywhere in the world.
The heavy oak wood panelled walls, large open fireplace and subtle lighting is all very elegant, while you could easily get lost in the luxurious leather couches that form the centre point of the room. It is a setting reminiscent of an old English Gentleman’s Club.
As Beverage Manager Christian Eggers explains, Macallan Bar, “is designed with Old World charm in mind and dressed handsomely in heavy oak wood panels and furniture from Scotland and England, including original Chesterfield leather sofas and Jacobean rugs.
“Macallan’s distillery hails from Aberdeen and with a selection of over 400 whiskies, you can sip your favored choice of the best Scottish malts by the smoldering flickers of the fireplace and the soft shine from the chandeliers of stag antlers, just as you would in a distinguished club in the Scottish Highlands.”
The Macallan Bar concept was actually the brainchild of Galaxy Vice Chairman Francis Lui, who is a huge fan of the famous Scotch Whisky, and he has gone to great lengths to provide customers with a premium whisky experience.
Among the carefully considered details is an ice ball maker which creates perfectly round ice spheres. These spheres melt much slower than traditional ice cubes, so you can take your time over each glass without having to worry about a watered down drink.
The bar itself also presents a pleasantly relaxed vibe, sweeping you away from the worries of the outside world and letting you sit back and unwind in style.
As for the enormous selection of whiskies available,Macallan offers a great solution for those unsure exactly which one to choose with special whisky flights whereby customers can enjoy samples of five whiskies of their choice. Aimed very much at the after-work crowd, Macallan Whisky Bar & Lounge truly is a great escape.
