Wai Kin Yong wins Triton Super High Roller

Malaysia’s Wai Kin Yong – the son of renowned high roller Richard Yong – has won the Triton Super High Roller Series Main Event at Solaire Resort & Casino in Manila, taking home the monstrous HK$16,135,550 first prize in the process.

The third running of the prestigious event boasted a HK$500,000 buy-in and attracted some of the world’s best poker players including Tom Dwan, Erik Seidel, Daniel Cates and John Juanda – as well as some of Asia’s most prominent businessman such as Paul Phua and the elder Yong.

The tournament attracted a field of 44 unique players who contributed another 18 rebuys and 39 add-ons to create a mammoth prize pool of HK$48,757,650. The final table of nine players – each of them in the money – included the likes of Poker King Club boss Winfred Yu, Juanda, Spanish pro and APT Macau runner-up Sergio Aido and American pro Bryn Kenney.

However it was final table chip leader Wai Kin Yong that prevailed over them all to pocket by far the biggest payday of his young career.
