Around 400 representatives from 240 Macau SMEs (micro, small and medium sized enterprizes) were at Grand Lisboa yesterday as SJM and the Macau Chamber of Commerce hosted a special SME Matching Session.

Aimed at supporting local Macau businesses, the session focussed on two main categories – Hotel Operating Supplies and Food & Beverage – with SJM offering MOP$80 million worth of business opportunities in those categories. MOP$9 million of that will specifically go to businesses that are identified as Micro Enterprise, Made in Macau or Young Entrepreneur.

Representative of the Secretary of Economy and Finance and Director of the Macao Economic Services of the Macao SAR Government, Mr Tai Kin Ip, said business matching sessions had facilitated cooperation between large and small enterprises and encouraged large companies to fulfill their corporate social responsibility by purchasing local products and services.

He added that local SME procurement partnership programmes have so far covered over 15,000 types of products and about 400 types of services, while more than 400 local suppliers have secured new orders which amount to approximately MOP$200 million in total.
