Philippine authorities arrest 232 for gambling

Police arrested 232 people in the Philippines’ Bicol Region between February 3 to 18 as President Rodrigo Duterte continues his crackdown on illegal gambling operations.

Senior Inspector Maria Luisa Calubaquib said yesterday that a number of operations had been carried out across the region, with almost P50,000 in cash seized in the process. The largest single seizure came in Catanduanes where 10 people were arrested and P19,431 seized.

Sixty-nine people were captured in Camarines Sur and another 46 in Camarines Norte.
