Numbers rising for Macau

It wasn’t a huge jump, but the 0.5 percent increase in tourist arrivals in September continues a hot streak for Macau after two consecutive months of rising gross gaming revenue.

Showing signs of modest but welcome growth, tourist arrivals totalled 2,427,086 last month while overnight visitors was up a substantial 11.8 percent year on year to 1,311,533, according to the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).

The number of visitors from mainland China was up 0.3 percent with 668,142 from Guangdong Province, 71,912 from Hunan Province and 63,347 from Fujian Province.

The first three quarters of the year has seen 22,868,794 arrivals – up 0.1 percent – while the average length of stay increased by 0.2 days.
