MP3 – the place to be!

The night scene in Macau is still in its infancy yet there are already a number of iconic watering holes. If you have limited time in Macau and you’re looking for a big night on the town then there are some true gems for those in the know. The Stallion is the only qualified party animal out there that knows every corner of Macau so when he gives you the good oil, you’d best listen to the low down.

By its name alone MP3 sounds like a new hip bar. Compare it with the good old days when you went to establishments with names like Crown and Anchor or the Queens Arms and it has definitely got a modern edge. Unusually though, MP3 is one of those bars that already has the vibe of an established venue. From its red décor to its outside beer garden this just feels like a great place to have a beer.

The doors open each night at 6pm and you will be able to rock into the wee hours if that takes your fancy. This bar has a little bit of everything. The resident DJ (who is one of Macau’s finest) plays everything from modern bass-pumping dance music to old rock classics for those of us old enough to love the Gunners and ACDC. A small stage with a pole is available for the occasional girl but this bar is far from a tasteless strip club. There is no nudity and there isn’t a sleazy feel. Of course a large percentage of the patrons are male but an open-minded girl won’t see anything too disturbing.

The bar is owned and operated by two brothers that hail from Lebanon via Canada. They both look as if they could be on stage with any of the world’s best rock bands judging by the immaculate long hair and expensive designer clothes. They are the perfect hosts and even though they aren’t there every night you can be guaranteed a good party when they turn up and Tony brings out the shots and cigars to be consumed at a furious pace.

The beer is cold and the drinks are all at a reasonable price. The party scene in Macau is still affordable which is fast becoming a thing of the past in places like Las Vegas. MP3 has a wide selection of international and local beers and a huge variety of spirits; cocktails are also on offer for the more adventurous drinker. You can even buy a fine bottle of French bubbly if you want to celebrate a good win on the tables. Their famous happy hour kicks off at 6pm and this has to be one of the best value deals in all of Macau. For a mere MOP$120 you don’t just get one hour of happiness, you will be looked after on the drinks front for a whopping three hours, and this includes spirits. Now if that isn’t the best value start to a big night going around, then this Stallion is in the wrong game.

MP3 is just a great bar. If you want to catch a football game early or play some dice over a few quiet beers, you will be made to feel at home. If want to party deep into the night then MP3 should also be your bar of choice. Some of the hottest girls in Macau hang out at MP3 and you’ll be sure to have a night to remember whatever you choose to do.
