The Stallion checks out Macau’s most famous nightclub, D2. This is the type of bar you go to when you want a late night, loud dance music and you are ready to party HARD!!!

When you talk about nightclubs in Macau the one that everyone knows is D2. It’s one of those bone-shuddering, ‘doof doof’ bars where the music is loud and the DJ is committed solely to dance tunes. If you can handle the noise and don’t mind throngs of other party goers competing for your air and elbow room then you are in the right place.

D2 evokes an image to me that is similar to a vampire bar in that it doesn’t get busy until well into the night. However this place is often still going hard well after the sun is up. Many people think getting to D2 before midnight is really a waste of time. The place only starts to get moving from around 2am but getting there early will ensure you get one of the better tables, or at least a good spot near the bar, the dance floor and the action.

Every night D2 is packed wall-to-wall but the weekends are even crazier. As you’d expect, there is a cover charge but if you intend to get a bottle of spirits mention it to the door staff and they might waive you through. The drinks are reasonably priced and there are some good bargains to be found if you buy spirits by the bottle. The tables are reserved for bottle service and there is a minimum charge but compared to Vegas or Hong Kong nightclubs it is great value. The other bonus to getting a bottle is that you get your own space and your own waitress so you don’t have to fight your way to the bar to get a drink.

This bar is not extravagant but that is not to say that the décor is outdated. The furniture is sharp, the lights are great, the bar looks good and there are some excellent paid dancers that will get you in the mood for a big night. It might not have girls taking baths in large champagne glasses but there are only so many ‘Vegas’ theatrics one can take.

Of course the most important ingredients for any good nightclub is girls and D2 won’t let you down in this department. It has some of the best looking girls you will find in any nightclub in the world. There are party girls, local girls and travelling girls from all corners of the globe. Many of the girls that work in saunas head down to D2 after work so that’s one reason why it has become such a late starting bar. You will find girls from Russia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, Europe, the US, Japan, Korea and of course all over China including Hong Kong and Macau. This bevy of hotties will keep the most discerning gent happy.

The other thing is that in Macau age is not an issue. There are plenty of 40-plus party goers at D2 that might look out of place in a similarly ‘happening’ Western bar. Having said that D2 is not one for the fainthearted and should be avoided if you are only looking for a few quiet drinks. Check it out next time you’re in Macau.

Getting to D2 won’t pose a problem – every taxi driver in Macau knows where to find D2. Just say “D2” and you will be on your way.
