Britain to lose 302 million hours sleep during Olympics

Written by Ben Blaschke

British sports fans will lose up to 302 million hours of sleep during the Rio Olympic Games.

According to leading British spread betting firm Sporting Index, local sports fans will go to bed 34 minutes later than usual on average in order to watch the Games.

Not surprisingly, athletics interests them the most with 59% of people polled saying they would lose sleep to watch it with swimming (37%), gymnastics (34%), cycling (24%) and tennis (23%) rounding out the top five.

However, it seems the UK public remain just as cynical as they are renowned for when it comes to their sporting teams, predicting the British Olympic squad will win just 32 medals despite UK Sport targeting 48.
