Brand new Star Poker Festival on its way to Sydney

Written by Ben Blaschke

Sydney’s Star Poker has announced the inaugural The Star Poker Festival, featuring the APL Million, from 28 February to 13 March 2017.

Following the success of WSOP Sydney in November and December, which broke all previous tournament records with capacity fields right across the schedule, The Star has joined forces with the Australia Poker League (APL) to create a brand new poker festival for both grassroots and experienced players from all across Asia-Pacific.

The Star’s Chief Operating Officer Gaming, Damian Quayle, said the upcoming Star Poker Festival would provide players at all levels the opportunity to compete for huge prizes for an affordable outlay.

“As home to Australia’s leading poker room for players, The Star is very proud to be hosting The Star Poker Festival for the very first time,” he said. “With the motto of creating a low buy in, high stakes poker festival we want to cater to players on all levels.”

The Star Poker Festival will feature nine events over 14 days with the highly anticipated APL Million Main Event to carry a low AU$1,500 buy-in accompanied by a massive AU$1 million guarantee.

The APL is the world’s largest free-to-play poker league and home to nearly 750,000 members throughout Australia via around 2,200 local pubs and clubs.

Aside from the APL Million Main Event, The Star Poker Festival schedule will feature a full array of side events ranging from the AU$220 Ladies Event to a AU$5,000 High Roller.

Players will also be able to take part in lower limit cash games and affordable Sit n Go tournaments throughout the series. Visit starpoker.com for more details.
