Blue Man Group reveals its Macau party tricks

An exclusive backstage tour of world renowned stage act Blue Man Group has revealed the sheer scale and variety of props used by the distinctive blue performers.

Held prior to one of their shows at the Venetian Theatre earlier this week, where Blue Man Group are performing until 28 August, a number of behind-the-scenes secrets were revealed including the fact that each week the show uses 25 drum heads, 14 cymbals, 24 drumsticks, 50 gallons of paint, 32 pounds of Jell-O, eight boxes of Cap’n Crunch cereal, 96 bars of white Toblerone, 240 marshmallows, 800 mashed up bananas, 40 boxes of Twinkies and 27 bald caps.

The group even has its own proprietary makeup color – “Blue Man Blue” – and uses nine large containers of it every week.

Approximately 12 crew members run the show, including wardrobe, props, video, sound, electrics, deck and stage management. Since launching in 2010, the Blue Man Group theatrical tour has logged 150,000 miles which is equal to circling the globe six times.
