Australian Rules Football Grand Final preview

Written by Big Jim

Okay boys and girls, get ready for the biggest annual day in Australian sport when the Hawthorn Hawks from Melbourne and the Fremantle Dockers from Perth battle it out in the AFL Grand Final this Saturday. This is Australia’s version of the Super Bowl and it’s good to see that the best two teams this year have made it through to the big one. The game always takes place on the hallowed turf of the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in front of 100,000 screaming fans and the atmosphere will be electric.

I have said all year I think the Hawks are the team to beat so I hope some of you had a little splash on them a few months ago. Having said that, I feel this Fremantle team is the best suited of their rivals to beat them.

You can get a little bit better than $1.60 about Hawthorn and a little worse than $2.50 about Fremantle. The line/handicap has come out at around 10.5 and there hasn’t been much movement there.

I think the bet is Hawthorn at the handicap. Yes, they are going to have to win by a couple of goals, but you are getting a lot better value. One of the reasons I love Hawthorn is they are like a shark when blood hits the water. They like to finish off their prey and don’t stop piling on points until the final siren sounds.

My heart would love to see the Dockers win but I think it’s going to be the yellow and brown of the Hawks that are singing their song at the end of the day.
